After over 20 years of service to the organization Jose Joel Garcia will be retiring as Chief Executive Officer of Tiburcio Vasquez Health Centers. He announced, “I plan to continue to work for and with TVHC in various capacities, but only part-time,” Garcia said.
As of September 10th, Mr. David B. Vliet, MBA has assumed leadership of the organization as CEO.
Mr. Vliet comes to TVHC with over 18 years of experience in practice management and health services administration. For the past 7 years, he has served as the CEO of Central Texas Community Health Centers, Inc., managing 20 delivery sites and over 500 employees. He was appointed to the National Association of Community Health Centers’ Board of Directors as a regional representative for the gulf and southwestern regions while also serving on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Community Health Centers.
Mr. Garcia expressed confidence in Mr. Vliet’s readiness to take on the role of CEO. “Mr. David Vliet comes to us with a very solid set of credentials, educational background, and accomplishments in his community health center experience. He gave us confidence in (his) fit to our organization’s strategic plan and our future for our community.”
