It has been an incredible year for our CHCN health centers. We have accomplished three major milestones:
1) The transition of Medi-Cal Seniors & Persons with Disabilities (SPDs) into mandatory managed care began in June 2011 and concluded in May 2012. Our health centers are now serving more than 11,000 SPD Medi-Cal Managed Care members.
2) As of June 2012, all eight clinics are now up and running on the NextGen Practice Management System.
3) We also are finishing the first year of HealthPAC (formerly CMSP). Our health centers have enrolled over 39,000 HealthPAC members.
None of these accomplishments should be taken lightly. We all should be proud of the planning and hard work that made these transitions possible.
In the health care field there is never a lull in new challenges to overcome and the upcoming year is no exception. All eight clinics are diligently working towards EHR Implementation. We also are preparing for the enrollment of all Medicare/Medi-Cal dual eligible patients into managed care beginning in June 2013. The biggest event on the horizon is the coverage expansion under the Affordable Care Act scheduled for January 2014, which could lead to an influx of new patients at all of our clinics. While these tasks may seem daunting, given what we were able to accomplish this past year, I am confident that we will rise to the challenge and meet these new goals ahead of us.
