A good time was had by all in attendance at the August 12 event – Looking Back, Moving Forward Together – celebrating Alameda Health Consortium’s 40th and Community Health Center Network’s 20th anniversaries. The festivities were held in the beautiful Roof Top Gardens of the Downtown Oakland Kaiser building and featured a number of special guest speakers who shared their own personal experiences with AHC, CHCN, and our member health centers.

U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Lee was presented with a special award for her longstanding commitment to the Community Health Center Movement and equal access to health care. She received a special framed version of the AHC/CHCN commemorative poster that was distributed to all in attendance.

Following Congresswoman Lee were speakers representing a few of our organizations’ biggest sponsors, California HealthCare Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, and Blue Shield of California Foundation. Resolutions from Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett, and the Assembly Members representing Alameda County, as well as an Alameda County Proclamation, were presented to commemorate both   National Community Health Center Week and the accomplishments of AHC and CHCN.

County Supervisor Keith Carson was also in attendance and shared special words of support and encouragement to AHC, CHCN, and all of our member health centers. The program ended with the showing of a very special video about AHC and CHCN and moving words from AHC Executive Director and CHCN CEO Ralph Silber. Thank you to all who were able to join us that evening.
