NHCW LifeLong Medical Care: Press Conference – Healthcare for Homeless
August 9, 2021 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
|Please join us on Monday August 9 as LifeLong Medical Care welcomes federal officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to a press conference showcasing LifeLong’s services during the COVID-19 pandemic that assure easy access to healthcare for people experiencing homelessness. LifeLong is a leader in recognizing homelessness as a public health crisis. Our medical teams were the first in the area to bring COVID-19 testing and vaccines to homeless encampments in the East Bay. Our Trust Health Center, Street Medicine Teams, Medical Respite, and Permanent Supportive and Public Housing Programs are uniquely designed to be responsive to people’s needs.
During their visit to LifeLong’s Trust Health Center in Downtown Oakland, officials plan to highlight the critical role that Federally Qualified Health Centers play in providing health care and housing to underserved communities, with a focus on COVID-19 services. Trust patients will be available to talk about their experiences at LifeLong during the pandemic and how our model of care has successfully engaged them in health services.
This event will also recognize National Health Center Week (NHCW), an annual celebration that raises awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. Each day of NHCW 2021 is dedicated to a particular focus area, with August 9th recognized as Healthcare for the Homeless Day.We hope to see you at 9:30 AM on Monday August 9 at our Trust Health Center, 386 14th St., Oakland CA.
